Agreement Reached for Contract Cleaning Industry
An industry wide national agreement for the Contract Cleaning industry has been reached between the Irish Contract Cleaning Association (ICCA), IBEC and SIPTU and has taken effect from Friday February 3rd.
The agreement restores with legal effect the rates of pay and numerous other associated conditions of employment which was already in existence under the previous Employment Regulation Order. There is a six month time span on the agreement, in which time a new agreement will be sought between the parties involved.
SIPTU Sector Organiser, Owen Reidy has welcomed the decision, saying that “The agreement creates a context for a level playing pitch for contractors when tendering for business and will prevent the small minority of rogue employers from using exploitative labour rates to unfairly tender for and win business”. Mr. Reidy has further claimed that this agreement “has the potential to benefit all associated with the industry by raising standards and ensuring fairness for workers.”
